A Time to Dance, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the IRS. Our vision is to improve the lives and futures of kids and the elderly through the joy and discipline of dance. We will offer underprivileged kids and teens, the opportunity to become involved in a fun and socially valuable activity, dancing. There will be no cost to the kids. Dance based events will also be offered to the elderly.
We will focus our program on kids who are homeless, have been abandoned, or are in a bad family situation. We will structure our activities around our dance studio, teen shelters, foster homes, churches and schools. We will conduct dance instruction and organize events and performances for these kids, giving them the chance to interact with others, learn social interaction skills, and how to relate to, and consider others. Dancing and participation in performances and dance parties will also improve their confidence and self esteem.
Our dance lessons do more than just teach the steps. Dancing is a social interaction. So our lessons also focus on the importance of the relationships between people, addressing respect, honesty and kindness. By learning the social skills associated with dance, through our lessons we will also coach them in character development that will serve them well later in life. We will use the Bible as the basis for our character development teachings as we believe that the lives of the kids and their families can be improved through exposure to God and His Word.
Kids will be taught all styles of dance, from hip hop to ballroom.
Dancing has the important element of requiring social interaction. In order to dance you also need to learn basic social skills and how to interact with peers and adults.
A Time to Dance will build honesty, respect and kindness through showing kids the proper way to relate to other kids, their parents and their teachers.
